The company’s operations, as well as its procurements, are extensive and diverse, with a focus on responsibility and transparency in its procurement processes. Many of the company’s tenders also adhere to the public procurement law for specialized fields, requiring specialized expertise in public procurement management and tendering.
In spring 2023, Lahti Energia decided to enhance its procurement operations by utilizing external expertise and resources through Despro’s ongoing procurement consulting services. The goal of the service is to ensure that the company’s public procurement processes run smoothly, while the collaboration also allows for flexible additional resources to support procurement activities.

Project Progress
Despro and Lahti Energia signed an agreement for ongoing procurement consulting services and procurement support in June 2023. The primary purpose of the collaboration was to provide support for Lahti Energia’s new tenders requiring public procurement in specialized fields and to offer additional resources to the company’s procurement activities, including non-public procurements, until the end of 2023. The procurement consulting service has proven to be particularly valuable when managing multiple overlapping expiring contracts and tendering them simultaneously for new agreements.
Despro’s procurement consultant manages the entire tendering process, including creating requests for proposals and contract templates, comparing participants, and providing communication during the procurement process. The procurement consulting service enables close collaboration between Despro’s procurement expert and Lahti Energia’s procurement team.
As a result of the service, Lahti Energia has gained additional resources for its procurement operations, and processes such as filling in HILMA announcements and drafting contract documents have been handled by Despro. This service has freed up Lahti Energia’s personnel to focus on other important tasks, particularly when other projects and procurement specifications demand the procurement unit’s attention.
As the year drew to a close, both Lahti Energia and Despro were pleased with the smoothness of the collaboration, and the agreement was extended for 2025. The consultant’s familiarity with the client’s internal operations and practices has enabled even more efficient cooperation and brought new opportunities. The consultant has been able to take on greater responsibility for executing procurements, further lightening Lahti Energia’s staff workload and enhancing procurement flexibility.
The collaboration has been excellent, and both parties have found the service to be essential in ensuring the smoothness and efficiency of Lahti Energia’s procurement processes.
