Despro Partnering with NTR on the Uusnivala 55 MW / 110 MWh BESS project

The Uusnivala BESS project, launched in Nivala, Northern Ostrobothnia, is one of the most significant battery energy storage projects currently under construction in Finland. Upon completion in summer 2026, it will have a capacity of 55 MW / 110 MWh.
The project owner, NTR, is an internationally recognised sustainable infrastructure investor and asset manager. The project is being delivered through the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund. The battery technology is supplied by Fluence Energy B.V., whose Gridstack Pro 5000 solution combines efficient land use, high safety standards, and cost-effectiveness. Nordic Electro Power serves as the project’s main contractor.
Despro has been appointed as the project’s Owner’s Engineer partner. Our role covers the owner’s commercial and technical representation, ensuring the quality of the project’s design and execution, and ensuring close cooperation between all parties during the construction phase. With our local expertise, we provide support in both construction management and site supervision, ensuring smooth progress and safe delivery from start to finish.
