Social responsibility

Employee well-being

Our people are our most valuable asset, and for us, responsibility also means fostering well-being, diverse, and inclusive work community. We regularly gather feedback through staff surveys and encourage open dialogue about areas for improvement to help us continuously develop our operations. Our employees have the flexibility to work remotely or from our offices across Finland, and we accommodate individual needs with flexible work arrangements. We also value in-person connections and organize team days and staff events to support collaboration and community.

We support our employees in maintaining a balance between work and free time, investing in both physical and mental well-being. Our employees have access to preventive mental health services, career coaching, and mental coaching through our partners. We encourage low-threshold group activities and run annual well-being campaigns. In addition, we support leisure activities with sports, culture, and well-being benefits and provide our staff with a lunch benefit.

Health and Working Conditions

continuously strive to improve occupational safety together with our staff. Despro holds the ISO 45001 certification, which supports the maintenance of safe and healthy working environments, and our operations are guided by a clear occupational safety program. We respond to safety observations proactively and regularly review feedback from our personnel as part of our continuous safety development.

We are committed to ensuring good working conditions for both our employees and subcontractors. We promote transparency across our subcontracting chains and ensure compliance with laws and requirements throughout our operations.

vastuullisuus

Equality and Non-Discrimination

At Despro, our equality and non-discrimination plans guide our everyday activities. We share up-to-date information with our personnel on related topics and promote open discussion.

About 20% of our staff are women, which corresponds to the average in the technology sector. (Source: TEK, TEK: Tekniikan yo-koulutuksen aloittajista pitäisi olla 40% naisia v. 2030 | TEK) We actively promote gender equality and are committed to fair pay and equal career development opportunities.

Professional development

Despro professionals are experts in their fields, and we consider it important to offer our employees opportunities to develop their skills and pursue career paths that suit them. We encourage knowledge sharing across teams and organize training sessions on various topics, also in collaboration with external partners. We offer young professionals development opportunities through the Despro Trainee program and support the combination of work and studies with flexible working hours and thesis topic opportunities.

Corporate social responsibility

We recognize our broader responsibility in society, and we participate in supporting communities and charitable causes. For example, we support sports activities for children and youth.

We always operate in accordance with applicable laws and standards, and our responsibility policy and ethical principles guide our actions.

Environmental Responsibility

In 2024, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated our short-term emissions reduction targets: Despro is committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 from the 2023 baseline, and to measuring and reducing scope 3 emissions.

We regularly track and report our carbon footprint. Our goal is to halve our carbon footprint per employee by 2026 and reach carbon neutrality by 2030. Our largest sources of emissions are related to travel and energy consumption, which we address by, for example, switching to renewable electricity and adopting electric vehicle solutions where possible.

Despro is committed to promoting sustainable development and reducing its environmental impact by actively participating in renewable energy projects. We contribute to the green transition by offering expert services in the following areas:

  • Development, design, and implementation of renewable energy projects, including:
  • Wind and solar power plants
  • Energy storage facilities
  • Planning of high-speed data connections
  • Electrical network design to support society’s electrification
  • Consulting and developing responsible procurement and supply chains

Our values

Our values are trust, courage, respect and responsibility. These values guide our internal operations, and we expect our partners to commit to them as well.

  • Trust is built through transparent and honest action. At Despro, this means openness in decision-making and communication, and clear operating procedures. Trust also means every employee and partner can safely raise concerns and be heard.
  • Courage is the ability to innovate, challenge the status quo and make responsible choices, even when change is required. Courage is also seen in our willingness to demand responsibility from our partners. We boldly develop our own operations and encourage our staff to communicate openly and influence shared matters.
  • Respect is reflected in respect for human rights, the promotion of equality and non-discrimination, and the fostering of wellbeing at work. Our ethical principles ensure that every employee is treated with respect, that the work community is safe, and that everyone’s contribution is valued. Respect extends to customers, society and the environment.
  • Responsibility means actively working towards a better working life, environment and society. Responsibility is also evident in each employee’s accountability for their own actions and their wider impact. Our ethical principles make responsibility concrete by requiring lawful and ethical conduct and demanding responsibility throughout the subcontracting chain.
